“Training Run” launches on November 3

Time Travel Holidays: A Holiday Anthology, which includes my short story “Training Run,” is set to go live on November 3, wherever ebooks are sold. That said, the anthology is also included as a stretch reward in WMG Publishing‘s Kickstarter for The Holiday Spectacular.

This is how it works: Every day from November 23 to January 1, backers will receive one holiday-themed short story… a kind of fictional Advent calendar. Those who back it for a bit more will receive their choice of a number of excellent anthologies, including Time Travel Holidays. Check out the Kickstarter here.

You have until November 2 to take advantage of this great deal!.

Nominated for a Derringer Award!

I am thrilled that my short story, “Tethered,” has been short-listed for a Derringer Award. There are 21 finalists in four categories and the winners in each category will be announced on May 1. I’m particularly chuffed to be short-listed because this is a peer chosen award.

“Tethered” was published in the second Sisters in Crime Canada West anthology, Crime Wave: Women of a Certain Age last year. My short story, “Cold Wave,” which appeared in the first anthology, won an Award of Excellence from Crime Writers of Canada.

A Little Strangeness…

I’m pleased to announce that my new short story collection, A Little Strangeness, will release on April 15, 2023. It features 14 of my stranger short stories:

A woman whose talent is the ability to find her way whenever—or wherever—she gets lost; a veteran who returns from the war with strange new powers; a midwife who receives help…

…from an unexpected source; a lonely woman who finds her purpose in an old photograph; Fey ironworkers who build a bridge to freedom; a young woman who inherits a fierce and dangerous guardian; an amulet designer dealing with evil in an alternate Belgium; a grieving woman whose airship crashes in the Yukon; a creature who lives in the Arctic Ocean; a woman confronted with a maiden, a mother and a crone; two Yukon women who battle a otherworldly creature; a daughter who bargains with the Fey for her father’s life; a chef and his partner who must deal with unexpected guests; and a trio of sisters whose terrifying past suddenly returns for them.
