I WON!

On May 29, Crime Writers of Canada announced that I won the Award of Excellence for Best Crime Short Story, for “Reversion,” which appeared in the April 2023 edition of Mystery Magazine, edited by Kerry Carter.

I’m honoured and delighted (and also a little flabbergasted, considering my competition: M.H. Callway, Mary Keenan, donalee Moulton, and Zandra Renwick).

Finalist for the CWC Excellence Award

I’m thrilled to announce that my short story, “Reversion,” which was published in the April 2023 issue of Mystery Magazine, is on the short list for the 2024 Crime Writers of Canada Excellence Awards. The winner will be announced on May 29. The story was also a finalist for the Derringer Awards, but alas, did not win.

Road Trip

I’m very pleased that my story, “Road Trip,” is in this month’s Mystery Magazine. In “Road Trip,” Cass is driving like a madwoman from Whitehorse to Calgary to be with her daughter who is in labour. Along the way, she comes across a young woman running from her abusive boyfriend. “Road Trip” is based on a true story. Well, partly.

This month’s magazine features cover art by Robin Grenville Evans and stories by: Kelsey Hutton, Jackie Sherbow, George Guthridge, Melodie Desmond, Mark Thielman, Hunter Liguore, Edward Lodi, and John H. Dromey. I look forward to reading them all!
